Knock Out's First Impression of Starscream

KO's POV.

When I decided to join the Decepticons I have just finished my medical education. I had little-to-none experience and my grades weren't very impressing either. The Decepticons recruited me only because it was extremely difficult for them to find any medics, no matter their experience. The CMO at that time had two assistants already and I was the third one. Both of them were better than me at that time and being the Decepticons they were, loved to comment on my failures and lack of knowledge. Good thing I don't care what others think, especially not ugly brutes with horrid paintjobs.

Anyway, so I was helping the CMO at the main Decepticns' base back on Cybertron. Usually I wasn't trusted with anything even remotely complicated or delicate. Guess it was fitting when the two morons were calling me nurse. I hardly did anything a doctor should do.

So, as I was helping in the Med. Bay, there was this huge battle between the Autobots and us and apparently we were losing. A large amount of wounded mechs were arriving in waves to the Med. Bay and the three other medics couldn't handle all of them. We had to repair the ones that weren't too badly hurt and send them back into the battle. However, we couldn't let the more seriously wounded ones just offline. So, the CMO let me handle some of the mechs that had minor injuries. One of them was Starscream.

The two assistants were blatantly laughing at me for being unfortunate enough to have the Air Commander as a patient, especially with my lack of knowledge about seeker's anatomy. Have they not been Decepticons, I am sure they would've pitied me even.

I haven't seen Star until that moment. I've heard stories and rumors of course but one cannot really believe everything they hear. When he entered the Med. Bay he was battered and leaking energon, mainly fro the junction between his wings. Even scratched and obviously very tired, he was stunning. Even beaten he still held an aura of superiority. Others can talk whatever they like but I can't imagine a better candidate for being Second in Command. Shockwave and Soundwave may be more respected and stronger but they are far from being cut to be leaders.

The moment Star was inside the Med. Bay he asked for the CMO's attention but he was sent to me instead. Everyone else were busy with more pressing cases. When he sat on my berth, he looked at me dubiously, obviously displeased that he was sent to the newbie. After he hissed several treats concerning my well-being, he let me began work on his wings. It's unnecessary to say his behaviour has somehow ruined the beautiful first impression I've gotten of him. But given the fact seekers are so obsessed with their wings, I guess it wasn't that bad of a reaction.

As I said before, I was far from experienced but I put a lot of efforts into repairing him. I didn't want to end up as a patient in the Med. Bay myself. And I didn't want to screw up his pretty wings neither.

Unfortunately for me, time was not something I had so I needed to work faster than I would've liked. Hence, I did make mistakes. Star complained about groundpounder medics and their incompetence when it comes to seekers and wings. Usually, I wouldn't have cared what he thought but I did put a lot of efforts and I didn't deserve to be insulted in return. His behaviour did piss me off a little. But when he exited the Med. Bay all three other medics were looking at me with their mouth plates hanging open.

They were in shock apparently. I didn't understand why at that time. Later, the CMO told me that Star has complained a lot less than he usually does, even when the CMO himself is repairing him.

From that day on, the two assistants haven't made fun of me. And Star's always come to me for repairs, especially for his wings.
